Why does my indoor cat like to chew on fake plants?

She doesn't do it all the time, but sometimes she gets obsessed with gnawing on whatever artificial flower/plant she is near. If she manages to ever chew a piece off, will she swallow it?

Why does my indoor cat like to chew on fake plants?
I have run into this problem with my cats as well, however I was able to find a very simple solution. At the garden centers they sell plants actually called "Cat Grass". It is just a regular potted house plant which is a combination of different types of grain plants etc., which provide the nutrients your cat seems to be missing from his diet. It worked great for my cats, and it doesn't look bad either.
Reply:Animals instinctively chew on plants when they're lacking something in their diet. If your cat is chewing on a fake plant, she probably thought it was real. You might want to try getting a special diet food or vitamins.

Also, chewing on a fake plant can be extremely hazardous to your pets health. They have oils and toxins in them that are not to be consumed. And, yes it's a very good possibility that the cat can choke.

Anything that you wouldn't let a baby chew on you shouldn't let your pet chew on.

Try spraying it with a water bottle whenever you see it gnawing on the artificial plant.

Also, buying catnip plants and putting them in your home might keep your cat from chomping down on your scenery.
Reply:My cats do the samething with my fake plants. She is probably doing it thinking its grass she might need to clean her digestive system out buy some grass or pull some from your yard and give it to her if she is chewing on it that means thats what she needs. If she is still chewing on it then make sure you put the plant somewhere so she cant get to it anymore it can be very dangerous if a cat swallows a big peice of it
Reply:I am not really sure but i have 2 indoor cats and we got them this thing called "catgrass" by Chia. It is made specifically for cats. U could try it. :-)
