Selling decorative handmade paper boxes, how to?

I'm making a nice box as part of a friend's birthday present, and realised that it's quite easy to make a nice looking box from very cheap materials. Here are some pictures of the product:

Here they are covered in newspaper but I can cover them in anything, decorative paper, tea stained paper, artificial flowers, and so on.

I was wondering whether I'd be able to make some money from them, selling them to local botiques etc. How would I go about this? Do you think it could work? How much should I sell them to a customer and how much to a retailer?

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

You need to see if there is a market for these boxes. Search ebay and 'gift boxes' to see what's out there. I know there are a number of companies that sell something similar but not with the nice inside. Then see what they are charging versus what it costs you to make the box and determine if you are making enough of a profit. That will help you to determine cost. Assume a retailer will purchase at about 40-50% of retail plus shipping.

You can make up a couple of boxes and go to boutique shops to get their reaction.
