Wedding flowers?

hi there. i am due to get married in august this year and have been looking at prices for wedding flowers. OMG!!! how much do florists charge???. i thought i would have a go at making my own from artificial flowers but not sure where to start. i have the flowers already. just need to know a website that may help. also any tips people can give me would be gratefully appreciated. thankyou.

Wedding flowers?
do NOT use artificial flowers! you will regret it!!!! go to a local florist and see what your options are. tell them that you'd like to keep the price down and ask them for their ideas. I'm sure you're not the first who has thought florists are expensive! good luck!
Reply:i dont know any websites BUT i know a really really cheap flower person.

i have ordered twelve centre pieces, three boquets, 3 corsages, two double button holes, and three single button holes!!! for 281,

the table centre pieces are gerbers, and the boquets, button holes etc are roses!!!

you need to shop around, try weding fairs for people, you can get a good price!!
Reply:Umm, for the person who said do not use silk flowers, they are crazy. If you want to save costs, that will be your best option. You just have to make sure what you are buying looks real and doesn't feel cheap. I have all silks for my wedding and they look gorgeous! I only spent a few hundred to buy them all as compared to the thousands you might spend with a florist. Some craft stores have free classes you can take on how to make certain arrangements. Check em out !
Reply:I was just thinking, sometimes the more fancy the bouquet of flowers, the more tacky it looks......? I thought it would be nice if the bride just held a small bunch of a particular flower e.g. 4 roses held together with a long flowing white ribbon? and the bridesmaids holding a single rose with a matching ribbon?

Florists usually charge alot.......from what I have researched but you might find a good deal.

You may want to check with what will be available in that month as those will come inexpensively.

Also check your local walmart or supermarkets they have some really good bouquets with them you could make your own. Thats what I have chosen do to as its easier!

I wouldnt go artifical as you may be dissapointed

Good Luck and Congrats!
Reply:I am also making my own bouquets, but I am going to use real flowers. The grocery store here sells flowers cheaper than the flower shop. So I am going to buy them possibly that morning, (order them a head of time) take some thik ribbon and wrap the stems together. It's really not that hard. I dont understand why the florists charge so much, its rediculous. As for flower arrangements. I saw this in a window the other day. You can buy BIG stiraphome (sp?) balls and punch through artificial flowers, then have them sit in a pot or something.. they looked really nice!
Reply:If you have a craft store in your area such as Michales they are usually very happy to help!! Good Luck and Congrats!!
Reply:I would not suggest using artificial flowers! Check out flowerbud.com there are some tips and pricing, you can also order bulk amounts of fresh flowers from them.
