Artificial or real?

My colors for my wedding are going to be red, black, and white. My problem is that I'm thinking of using artificial flowers in some areas of the reception as well as some real flowers. I know its alot cheaper for artificial flowers but can anyone help me as to where I can find artificial flowers that dont look so fake? And is this a good decision?

Artificial or real?
Honestly, I have yet to see any silk flowers anywhere that look even remotely real, even the "high quality" ones which are very expensive. In my research, silk flowers are actually more expensive than real, unless you are having callas or exotic flowers. There a ton of resources for inexpensive real flowers, ranging from wholesale florists to Costco.

Only you can decide if you prefer silks or fresh. I have always preferred fresh because you can't recreate the scent or texture of real flowers. If allergies are a concern, you really don't need to worry about it since flowers that are grown for arrangements have the pollen already removed. I am allergic to fresh cut flowers from the grocery due to the pollen but the same bouquet at the grocery florist doesn't bother me at all for that reason.
Reply:Great decision, Red black and white is an awesome color scheme! Check your local flower shops....I would avoid stores like Michael's and Target....many of their artificial flowers scream "I'm fake"!
Reply:use silk ones... they look less fake.. its all about how you arange them wither they will look fake or not
Reply:Getting silk flowers works well. Be cautious though because some of the silk flowers are actually more expensive than the real ones. Try a florist because they may be able to point you in the direction of a local store that would have a good supply and variety. Good luck!
Reply:You have to do a lot of looking around. I found some at Michaels (the craft store) that looked pretty good. I used real flowers in the areas that would be photographed more (my bouquet and the cake) and artificial flowers everywhere else. They looked really good. Also try Old Time Pottery for artificial flowers.
Reply:I think most places are getting better with the silk flowers.

We are doing silk flowers for all the table centerpieces at my wedding, and table decorations (food, guestbook, gifts, etc). And it is working out nicely.

We are only do real flowers for people really, to save money cause it's 140 people coming and thats a lot of tables we have to decorate.

I think it's a good decision. We got all our flowers just from places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby, but my aunt does floral arangments so she's a big help.

Hope that helps, good luck.
Reply:I'm not quite sure where to find them, sorry! But I can tell you that it is a great decision to integrate both.

And by the way, those would be the wedding colors I would choose as well! GREATTTTT choice, and I wish you a happy marriage!
Reply:I agree with the first post, one trick to saving money on real flowers is to go to the florist and ask whats in season--ordering flowers that are not in season will cost you a pretty penny.

I don't know what they're called, but there is a line of flowers that are made out of a plastic material and look so real! You can find these at a hobby lobby or Michaels...however make sure you buy them a day that they're half off (that will help you save money too)
